We are looking to recruit a Hot End Process Leader to join our team in St Helens. To provide technical and process knowledge for the shift teams in the Hot End area, caring for safety first at all times, creating a customer centric mentality within the team whilst challenging at all levels to continually improve. Ensure work is completed in partnership with the manufacturing teams, facilitating problems solving activities and driving process best practice and improvements. Display the KI values at all times, engage fully with the shift teams, champion continuous improvement and challenge the team to be the best they can be

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Ensure safety first at all times. Whether it be during meetings, process improvements or problems ensure safety is always the first thought. Apply, and ensure compliance, with the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policy and Procedures by contractors so that a safe and secure environment is maintained

• Be competent with the CI framework and drive the application of CI tools, techniques and ways of working, so that they become “the way we do things around here”. In particular the promotion of Safer Working, Standards, Problem Solving and CI ideas are critical

• Focus on ensuring people have the necessary support and engagement to drive problem solving “in shift”. Lead and participate in CI projects, and in conjunction with individual project team members, clearly communicate project outcomes so that the shift teams can implement and sustain dynamic process and operational changes

• Ensure any new agreed process standards, tasks or improvements are properly communicated and trained to the shift teams. Support where necessary with training requests and push a deeper data driven understanding within the teams

• Support the plant teams with expert process knowledge and technical skills to ensure that the plant is operated, at all times, in compliance with standards to achieve safety, quality, output, manufacturing efficiencies and cost

• Support the shift handover process where necessary and the daily management priority setting. Draw on engineering support where necessary and drive OCO planning

• Ensure Quality is considered during all process problems and improvements. Assist with data display on standard checks and that the data recorded onto the OSI Pi system

• Support the shift teams with ensuring Quality remains a high priority

• Liaise with the central support teams and other plants to ensure St Helens has access to all sources of manufacturing and process best practice

Role Challenges:

• Ensuring Safety is the first consideration in every decision

• Sustaining and driving forward CI and managing the resistance to change:  maintaining morale and motivating the teams directly against a background of constant change

• Leadership of process without team reports, seeking to control processes with reliance of shift teams reporting to alternative line managers

• Leading with direction to gain compliance, while understanding the need to correct behaviour directly within a team without a clear reporting function

Knowledge & Experience:

• Clear drive for improvement, proactive and appetite to learn new skills. Strong KI Values displayed and clear understanding of the fundamental principles of Continuous Improvement

• Leadership and communication style which is motivating and engaging to individuals and teams

• Data driven and results focused

• 4 years experience of continuous process plant operation, with technical competency achieved or understood in area of application

• 2 further years of Supervisory management experience or clear demonstration of supervisory potential in knowledge and skills, would be beneficial

• 2 years engineering or technical application within the current or similar operation, would be beneficial

• Knowledge of CI Framework tools and techniques (LEAN, SIX SIGMA) would be beneficial but clear ability to learn essential

Salary & Benefits

• £42,000 - £44,000 per annum depending on experience
