Knauf Insulation are looking to recruit for the position of Production Planning Support to join our team in St Helens. The role will be on a 12 month fixed term basis. The purpose of the role will be to support the production planning team in scheduling and sequencing of finished goods in line with Customer Demand. The role will provide a pivotal link between Production Planning and Domestic/International Customer Services, dealing with enquiries on an ad-hoc basis. The ideal candidate will be expected to maintain excellent communication lines with all key stakeholders in order to support efficient and effective Supply Chain operations. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Schedule & sequence production of finished goods

Compiling and deploying of production schedules in the SAP Production Planning environment, utilizing forecasting and safety stock calibration tools. 

Coordinating with key internal stakeholders to ensure production is planned at the right location in order to optimize, service level and cost-to-serve           

• Liaising between UK/IE and International Customer Services

The role will play a pivotal part in ensuring that the lines of communication between the Planning department and Customer Service (Domestic and Export) are maintained – flagging production issues that could affect transport loading/informing CS when products are ready to be loaded/ensuring export trucks are leaving as planned.

• Warehouse Space Planning

Daily meeting with Warehouse Team to identify locations for finish goods in line with production plan

• Planning analysis and reporting

Checking on a daily basis that the production planned meets the forward sales orders on the stock screens; flagging any potential risks of stock shortages for truck loading.

Highlighting any stock shortages to the Planners to ensure production is scheduled and liaising with Customer Service as to when the stock will become available.

 Coordination with Material Planner

Daily, weekly communication with Material Planner and agree the right stock holdings based on historical usages and the forward planning volumes.

Provide effective communication

Provide relevant input to routine and ad hoc reports for distribution to key stakeholders within the Supply Chain Team and, in some cases, across the wider organisation.

Proactively maintain regular, clear and concise communication with Supply Chain Director and other key stakeholders on key areas of tactical and strategic focus.

            Role Challenges:

            • Balancing optimal manufacturing and warehouse performance with overall service can lead to conflicting priorities with customer service always our number one priority

            • Maintaining composure under the pressures inherent in a fast-moving, dynamic environment

            • Complex Global organisation and associated networks with regional responsibility for International supply, taking in UK&I, Europe, Australasia and North America

            Experience, Qualifications and Skills:


            • Understanding of key supply chain principles (preferably in manufacturing)

            • Demonstrable track record of working to high level of data accuracy

            • Experience of planning 300+ SKU’s

            • Experience of planning in industrial 24/7 manufacturing

            • Advanced SAP experience including PP

            • Proficient (preferably Advanced) in Excel

            • Clear, concise and accurate written and verbal communicator

            • Comfortable communicating with people at all levels of the business

            • Customer-focused

            • Able to work autonomously, quickly, accurately and to tight deadlines

             Able to work effectively in teams


             Degree qualified

            • Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles and tools

            • Proficient in JDA software systems

            Salary & Benefits

            • £27,000 - 30,000 per annum depending on experience
