Knauf Insulations are looking to recruit an Applications Technologist to be based in our Head Office in St Helens. The purpose of the role is to develop and improve applications of ECOSE thermoset resin systems in a variety of different products, with a distinct focus on wood based panels. Although mainly lab based the role will include customer facing tasks including communication with suppliers. The role will involve travel both UK and overseas. The suitable candidate must hold a full UK driving license.



Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Conduct laboratory studies.

• Record results and communicate reports including conclusions and recommendations.

• Support plant / production trials.

• Identify areas for improvement in testing procedures and identify new procedures and methods.

• Align laboratory testing with industry practices.

• Develop improvements to product portfolio.


Knowledge skills & experience:

• Desired - BSc (Hons) in a scientific discipline involving laboratory studies.

• Previous experience working in an R&D laboratory, preferably within an industrial setting.

• Skilled in good laboratory practices.

• Experience in a process industry.

• Experience of thermoset resins testing, characterization and development would be an advantage.

• Knowledge of wood panel testing, production and development would be an advantage.

• Capable of working independently while collaborating with a wider team.

• Good interpersonal skills.

• Ability to interact with people at all levels.

• Critical thinking with an open minded attitude.

• Desire for continuous improvement both within own projects and on current protocols.

• Capable of improving own knowledge and skills and learning/adapting new processes.

• IT / report writing skills / confident and capable using Word and Excel.

• Basic conversational French/German/Dutch language knowledge would be an advantage however not essential.

• £24,000 - 26,000 per annum depending on experience
