We are looking to recruit a Credit Control Manager to be based in St Helens. This is a hands on role providing and developing sound cash and customer risk management processes throughout the business. The ideal candidate will build and maintain strong relationships across the wider business and with external parties to ensure that these processes are effectively communicated and executed. To lead the credit control team in its achievement of its KPIs so that the business consistently meets its cash management objectives. To ensure a positive and productive team working environment exists to facilitate efficient and effective operations. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Customer Credit Portfolio

Manage the collection operation to ensure that DSO and other KPI targets are met.  Ensure that rigorous controls are in place when granting credit to customers which should then be reviewed annually and that all credit related master data is accurate and documented electronically within SAP.

    • Data Analysis

    Develop and continuously improve credit and debtor performance reporting. Using the data provided by the Credit Control Analyst, draw conclusions and actions that can be applied to day to day activities to drive improvements and efficiencies in credit control processes. 

      • Regulatory Compliance

      Ensure all regulatory and legislative requirements are fully satisfied, including audit, insurance and other fiscal requirements. Actively research up to date legislation and policy rules, building applicable changes into day to day processes and controls.

      • Account Management

      As the senior member of the credit control team, manage and reconcile the most high profile and complex customer accounts. Secure a full understanding of their AP processes, liaise with key customer contacts and other teams around the business to ensure that account queries are resolved quickly to prevent delays in payments.

        • Team Management

        Support and train staff in their career progression and self-development to allow them to undertake their roles professionally and effectively at all times. Encourage effective communication, ensuring that a positive and productive team environment exists.

        • Continuous Improvement

        Actively engage in the drive for an environment of sustainable improvement utilising best practice Continuous Improvement tools and techniques. Develop, continuously improve and manage credit management policies and processes for both the credit control team and the wider company. 

            Role challenges:

            • SAP training to ensure that the system can be used in the most effective way, and that processes and data can be managed and captured with minimal manual intervention.

            • To liaise with cross-departmental managers to provide education and training around our processes.

            •  Driving process improvements whilst maintaining high standards for day to day activities.

              • Maintaining strong relationships with customers, credit insurers, and the wider business whilst not always being in a position to deliver a positive message.

                • Following up on actions where input is required from the wider business and conflicts with other priorities.

                Knowledge skills & experience:

                 • ICM qualification or similar

                • Experienced credit manager with 5+ years experience in managing commercial credit & risk management activities.

                • Team focused with strong leaderships qualities.

                • Practical experience of staff management and development.

                • Thorough knowledge of standard credit control principles and procedures.

                • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

                • Positive attitude to change, and desire to improve ways of working.

                • Highly numerate with demonstrable presentation and analytical skills.

                • Excellent IT skills including Advanced Excel, Word, SAP.

                • Good attention to detail with the tenacity to drill down into issues.

                • Planning & organisational skills.
