We are looking for an experienced Industrial Digital Engineering Director (DED) for Knauf Insulation to support all the manufacturing sites in term of advancing the Digital Maturity of the Insulation Manufacturing Team (Glass Mineral Wool, Rock Mineral Wool, Wood Wool) within the EMEA and APAC Region.

In this role, the DED will maintain a view of all Digital projects within the classic Automation Pyramid for the manufacturing process of glass, and rock mineral wool. At the same time the DED will introduce the needs of the Division to the Smart Initiatives program, serving as the connection point between the two teams. One of the key responsibilities of this position is to work to keep all the key team members aligned and working together to elevate all the manufacturing site digital operations to the same, higher level in the shortest possible time.

The Industrial Digital Engineering Director (DED) reports hierarchically to the Group Industrial Performance Director.

The position is based out of Belgium or UK or Slovenia.

Up to 30% of time travelling to our manufacturing plants based in EMEA & APAC will be expected to execute responsibilities in the most pragmatic way.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Responsible for oversight of all Digital projects within the Manufacturing Team. This effort will include the supervision of the Digital Engineers within the team. 

• Ensure delivery standards and best practices as aligned with the Smart Initiatives Team are utilized throughout the life of a project to ensure optimal delivery of the solution. 

• Develop practical solutions to achieve program productivity, quality and schedule objectives. Management through metrics & KPIs

• Drive key technical decisions and proactively manage risks, issue and roadblocks to ensure success solution delivery of the end product. 

•Ability to evaluate digital architectures

• Ability to evaluate and hire team members from various backgrounds, focusing on Data Scientist and Artificial Intelligences specialties

• Build, develop, mentor and guide individual's professional development regardless of diversity, geography and experience. 

• Provide technical leadership and advising on solutions, products and proposals across the organization.

Knowledge, Experience & Attributes

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, Master’s degree preferred

• Background in Software Delivery Management, Product Management or Solution Architecture, ideally with 5+ years of hands-on experience 

•Excellent Project Management and organizational skills in a highly technical environment 

• Excellent business communication and time management skills required

• Experience collaborating with senior leaders and stakeholders

• Knowledge of software development/Product lifecycles, methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)

• Experince with planning, resourcing and delivering large scale technical projects

• Experince with project financial management to ensure optimal delivery management and tracking
