As Plant Controller, you will provide accurate and timely financial information to the business to ensure that decision making by management is based on sound data, reported costs are reliable and variance analysis is meaningful, and that’s assets of the business (equipment, stock, headcount) are protected and utilised effectively.
What you’ll be doing…
- Month End Closing & Reporting: Carry out month end closing activities and reporting of plant EBITDA and KPI’s to ensure comprehensive management information.
- Budget Preparation: Prepare the plant budget and perform budget calculations in order to set accurate standard product costs.
- Monitor Actual Costs: Monitor actual costs against set budget to enable accurate reporting to senior management.
- Maximise Margin & EBITDA: look for opportunities and work with the plant management team to improve and maximise plant profitability.
- Support appraisal of CAPEX project and manage the plant fixed asset register.
- Monthly Cost Reviews: Review costs on a monthly basis with members of the plant management team.
- Create and Maintain Finished Goods Products in SAP: Maintain product bill of materials and routings to ensure that changes to product recipe are accurately recorded in the costing system in order that (i) stock variations are minimised (ii) standard costs and therefore sales margins are correct.
- Cost Awareness Training: Increase cost awareness of the plant team by providing finance and SAP training.
- Play an active part in plant management team meetings and other relevant plant meetings.
- Liaise with Central Controlling: Liaise with central controlling and other central functions (MDG, asset accounting) on any issues that arise.
- Miscellaneous Invoicing: Carry out miscellaneous invoicing (properties, waste to ensure that the correct monies are received).
- SAP Key User: Act as SAP key user to ensure that others are able to make best use of the SAP system.
- Plant Payroll Support: Act as support and cover for the plant payroll input and maintenance
- Knauf Standards: Ensure Knauf accounting standards and requirements are met e.g. PI process
- Ad hoc Cost Exercises: Carry out ad hoc cost exercises as required. These may be requested by a variety of sources e.g. plant, head office, central function
- General Plant and Finance Support: Provide support to the Queensferry plant team and the Finance team as and when necessary.
- Liaise with external and internal auditors as necessary.
- Participate and actively engage in continuous improvement activities within the department and cross functional departments.

If you have any of the following – this would be an added advantage:
- CIMA Accounting Qualified
- Experience of manufacturing accounting
- Previous experience of SAP essential with extensive knowledge of costing and finance modules
- IT Literate with good knowledge of spreadsheets, Microsoft office
- Good administrative skill and PC literate.

- Excellent communication skills
